Many people didn’t know until recently that the company is actually affiliated with the Oiled Wildlife Care Network. The primary goal of this prominent network is to rescue animals from oil spills. When the oil spill occurred in Huntington Beach, the Oiled Wildlife Care Network responded immediately.
Many experts strongly believed that the oil spill would adversely affect migrating sea birds. The primary leader of SeaWorld’s rescue efforts made sure to prepare the facility for an unknown number of injured animals. The company was especially prepared to assist dolphins and sea turtles at any time. The facility can accommodate about 200 sea birds. During the beginning of the rescue efforts, only a few migrating birds have needed help.
Many of the animals wouldn’t survive without assistance. When injured animals come to SeaWorld, the company focuses on stabilizing them first. After they are stabilized, the rescue team washes the oil off of them. In order to get all of the oil off the animals, the company uses dishwashing liquid and water. Once the animals have completely recovered, the team at SeaWorld is excited to release the animals back to Huntington Beach.
The company has also been participating in other conservation efforts. The company is most known for saving Florida Corals from awful conditions. The name of this condition is stony coral tissue loss. The disease mostly affects the older coral colonies. One prominent employee at this company stated that corals shouldn’t just be known as beautiful organisms. They are actually multifaceted.
