Many people have a passion for wellness, and Carl Daikeler is one of them. His interest in personal fitness, exercise and nutrition goes back to the 1980s. While he was a college student, Mr. Daikeler made an effort to incorporate daily exercise into his schedule. After college, his first job involved productions for the National Football League. The complicated halftime entertainment shows enthralled audiences from the Pacific to the Atlantic, and Mr. Daikeler was the man behind many of them.
After working for the NFL for many years, Mr. Daikeler decided to move on to the communications industry. Specifically, he was interested in the infomercial industry and creating productions that would empower people to make positive changes in their lives. The segments Mr. Daikeler produced centered around health and fitness products. His shows did so well that he became a best-selling producer.
Carl Daikeler wanted to do more for people. While taking a drive one day, he saw a billboard with a fit woman at the beach. He reflected on why so many people had trouble losing weight and keeping it off. Knowing that he could make a difference in the wellness of American adults, Mr. Daikeler took a turn into entrepreneurship. He sought out nutritionists and scientists to join him, and he founded BeachBody.

At the time of its launch in 1998, BeachBody was a small enterprise. Mr. Daikeler produced 12 digital video discs with exercises people could do at home without any expensive or bulky equipment. The goal was to get people to exercise and make it easier and convenient for them. Everyone who tried BeachBody loved it, and Mr. Daikeler’s customers wanted him to make more of the workouts. He agreed and released new videos every couple of weeks.
To attend to the nutritional needs of an active person who wants to lose weight, Carl Daikeler worked with his team to develop Shakeology. Since 2008, the protein powder has facilitated rapid weight loss. Shakeology combines fiber and protein in a way that satisfies cravings and reduces snacking. It also fills holes in a typical American fast food diet.
