It is owned by Beverly A. Bailey, CPA, CEM, MBA. Recently she was honored by being appointed to the board of directors for the American Society of Civil Engineers.
She has been the chair of the ASCE Women in Engineering Council since 2009 and served as its chair in 2005. She is also a current member of the Advisory Committee of the National Center for Health Statistics on “Women with Disabilities.”
Beverly received her Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from N.C. Central University and graduated with honors from N.C. State University with a Master of Business Administration degree. She also received a Master of Science degree in civil engineering from North Carolina State University.
She is a licensed Professional Engineer in North Carolina and South Carolina.
Shrinking Cities Project
The Shrinking Cities Project was initiated by Beverly Bailey in 2009 and is currently ongoing. The project aims to research, document, and analyze the impacts of the economic downturn on cities, particularly miniature towns, and the effect on their economies, infrastructure, services, and human capital. The ultimate goal of this project is to develop a toolkit for smaller communities to help them in an attempt to mitigate these impacts through strategic planning processes.
The project grew from the stimulus bill developed in 2009 and 2010. In 2009, Beverly was invited to participate in the National Governor’s Association meeting, hosted in Raleigh, NC, by North Carolina Bev Perdue. In this meeting, she participated in a discussion titled Stimulus-driven redevelopment opportunities for communities. She presented information on the Shrinking Cities phenomenon, and as a result of that presentation, she was asked to give this information at two consecutive U.S.
