Two of the most prominent and influential people in the San Francisco, California area are Larry and Pam Baer. Larry is the Chief Executive Officer for the San Francisco Giants. Pamela Baer is a dedicated wife, mother, and philanthropist whose mission is to reform the current state of the area’s healthcare system.
Pam was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. She attended the University of Texas at the Austin campus after graduating high school. Once her schooling was completed, she relocated to the New York City area and began a career in the financial services industry. Her career successfully blossomed and she eventually started her own consulting and marketing business. The company was later sold after the couple married and moved to California.
Once settled in San Francisco, Pamela Baer decided that her financial services career was no longer satisfying. She felt that she could offer the local community more by becoming involved with helping to reform the local healthcare system. So in 2002, Pam Baer joined the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation as a board member. She maintained the position of board member for over 15 years. When Pam stepped down, the foundation named her Lifetime Director.
The foundation works to help improve low income and homeless individuals gain access to mental and heath care despite their financial status. Pamela Baer is also active in other charities and foundations. She has served in various capacities for Every Mother Counts, Nest, Family House, The Contemporary Jewish Museum, and Jewish Women’s Giving Circle. Pam also started her own fund, Transform Mental and Behavioral Health Fund, in 2018. This fund has successfully raised over five million dollars since its inception.
