Jaya Rao, co-founder of Molekule, recently went on YouTube to clear up any misunderstandings regarding Molekule’s air purifier. Molekule was recently reviewed by Wirecutter, and they raised concerns over the validity of Molecule’s purifying claims. They even admitted that they don’t have a way to test the technology that Molekule uses to provide an accurate Molekule review. They can only test and evaluate HEPA and CADR air purifiers.
Molekule doesn’t work the same way as other air purifiers. Molekule’s uses PECO, Photo Electrochemical Oxidation, technology to trap and chemically eradicate pollutants. All their products are tested in a lab environment using reliable third parties such as Aerosol, Intertek and Berkeley Lab. The results are published on Molecule’s website. It has been reported that PECO reduces formaldehyde, D-limonene and toluene to an undetectable level, after a short period of time, in a closed container. It also killed mold, viruses and bacteria.
Other studies have proved that Molekule’s PECO system can destroy pollutants 1000 times smaller than a HEPA filter can. Thousands of customers have claimed that Molekule’s air purifiers have made a difference in their air quality. Molekule will not tolerate inappropriate tests and inappropriate reports regarding their technolgy. They have invited them to test their products in proper lab environments, and Wirecutter has rejected the offer. The offer is still open.
