With the recent shift in consumer preferences, where people are now opting for healthier food options and lifestyles, the demand for meat alternatives and plant-based products has tremendously increased. Impossible Foods, the manufacturer of the famous lab-grown beef burger, the Impossible Burger, was recently started, and it is now struggling with meeting the scorching demand for its product.
Impossible Foods had not expected that it would become popular at such a high rate, and for this reason, it only had one production facility. Its limited capacity is the reason the company stopped taking new orders and partnerships because it was already experiencing shortages. It has more than 10,000 restaurants and fast-food chains across different locations, including White Castle, Burger King, Applebee’s, and Red Robin, among others.

The company needed to act as soon as possible in order to avoid losing its customer base. It thought about establishing a larger production plant, but that did not seem to be the ideal decision. This is because it would cost a fortune to plan, create, and install all the needed resources in order to start manufacturing the meatless burgers. Again, it would take years before the production site is completed and ready to start production, and Impossible Burger did not have the time.
After much deliberation, the company decided to look for a partner in order to co-manufacture the Impossible Burger. Impossible Foods settled for the Chicago based meat supplier for McDonalds, OSI Group, and the ideal partner. Even though OSI was into the meat processing market, it had the ability to help increase the manufacturing capacity of Impossible Foods seeing that it had a number of production sites across seventeen countries globally.
OSI Group agreed to sign the contract and immediately installed all the necessary equipment and resources in one of its plants in the Midwest that Impossible Foods would need to manufacture its meatless patties. This will help Impossible Foods to start delivering its orders on time as well as have the opportunity to take in new partnerships.
OSI Group has been in existence since 1909, and it is a top supplier of meat-processed products for big fast-food chains and restaurants such as McDonalds. Based in Chicago, OSI Group has a reputation for providing quality products and excellent customer services.
