For the first time, Darien Dash has come out to speak publicly on what appears to be a bitter message to athletes. According to the Darien, who spoke in New York, he says that most professional athletes get huge sums of money once in their lives, an amount that most Americans will never make or earn in their lifetime.On what seemed to be a defensive message, Darien Dash agreed that athletes, footballers, and NBA stars are no different from other average Americans or any other human beings for that matter. According to Dash, athletes are bound to make financial mistakes.
“Athletes are not immune. They make mistakes just like other human beings. In fact, we have had a few isolated cases where an athlete who earns a fortune a few times in his life but does nothing to the money. After a short while, we hear the athlete is bankrupt. It happens,” said Darien Dash in New York.
When pointing out to some mistakes that athletes do, Dash said that some give loans to their friends who in turn default. Others spend lots of money on things that do not last such as food, cars, clothes, drinks, vacations, and even homes.Although some of these things may look appealing to athletes, Darien Dash says a majority of these things are not equal to any investment.
Darien Dash advises athletes to have proper financial plan that looks into their future. Many of those who listened or read to his New York speech agree that it is time athletes focused more on their future as opposed to their current state of fame, which will definitely fade away as the athletes age. Dash pointed to some examples in the National Football League where some individuals signed deals to a tune of $32.9 million, saying that could be a lifetime investment if planned for correctly.
