Kevin Plank founded the famous activewear brand Under Armour, over 20 years ago. He started the company while living with his grandmother. He was inspired to do so after playing sports and hating the sweat that came along with it. He started making sweat proof activewear, and customers fell in love with his brand. It didn’t take long for the company to take off, and Under Armour was at the top of their game. They stayed that way for years, but starting in 2010, sales started to slowly decline.
Kevin Plank thought up a new vision for Under Armour. He wants to connect closely to his customers and consumers to learn their desires and needs. He wants to stay on top of what is relevant, so he knows what the customers desire. Under Armour has always created top quality products, but several other companies can provide that as well. Kevin was looking to stand out.
One-way Kevin Plank made sure Under Armour stood out, is by creating fitness apps to help customers keep track of their health. He was really looking to be a part of the health and fitness movement. They came out with fitness apps that track your goal and guide you through your fitness journey. There are at least 70,000 of these apps downloaded every day. Millions of individuals every year use these for guidance.
Kevin Plank always plans on making Under Armour more than just sportswear attire. He wants Under Armour to shift from just branding clothing to a full fitness experience instead. Kevin is trying to keep Under Armour relevant through the whole process. The company has set goals for 2020. They have new clothing and shoe attire coming out. They have also built 300 new retail stores across the globe. Kevin and the company are ready for the comeback.
