Covid-19 was not one of the illnesses in Eric Lefkofsky’s mind, not even his close associates. For Tempus to help a patient in need, the company’s experts take time to look at the doctor’s handwritten notes and any other electronic notes that might be in the patient’s clinical records before they decide on what is best for the patient.
Some of the data Eric Lefkofsky’ Tempus is interested in include medical imaging, X-rays if any, and the patient’s medical and treatment history. Since it was initiated in 2015, Tempus has helped evaluate hundreds of patients, most of whom Eric Lefkofsky says suffer from critical illnesses. With the surge in Corona cases, Tempus has added into its catalog another group of patients, who according to the start-up, require immediate attention. According to Scott Gottlieb, a former Food and Drug Administration (FDA) commissioner, who now works as one of the board of directors at Tempus, investors estimate that Tempus has an asset value of $5 billion. Whether Scott’s claims are true or not, Tempus is showing the world that as long as there is a clear mission, not the illness, however strong it may be, will bring down the entire community.
