Not many people get to have a second chance in life, but this is what philanthropist and entrepreneur Sudhir Choudhrie received two decades ago. His story started in India after the doctor checked his lungs and heart and discovered that he had a rare condition where the heart skipped beats due to a leaking valve. This was followed by years of health complications caused by the heart condition.

Even a leaky heart couldn’t stop Sudhir Choudhrie, a London based business executive from achieving his dreams. This is why he founded the Magnum Trading Company, which focused on expanding and exploring the Indians export market. He still went ahead to work with Adidas AG and Taj Hotels in 1995. Between 1999 and 2005, he was the executive director at Ebookers PLC, and during this time, he also invested in Air Deccan. Sudhir almost gave up in life, and was it not for a 20-year-old who died from a motorcycle accident and whose heart was matched, he couldn’t be alive today. His surgery took place at the Columbia University medical center. Following the surgery, Choudhrie started to experience disturbing visions. Still, before he could get back to his previous life, there was a need for him to go through therapy to adopt a positive attitude.
Today, Sudhir Choudhrie is seventy years old and remains one of the few people that have lived a long life following a heart transplant. Twenty-one years after his successful surgery, there are very few whose transplants have been as a successful as his. Sudhir points out that everybody must take care of their body and make the most out of the life they’ve got.
