As many people continue to use the word innovation, mean the creation of new products or the birth of new ideas, one man, who posts himself as the real master of understanding, says the term is more of destruction than the creation of anything new. “When you dig deeper and look back to the history of the terms and how people have been using this word, you will realize that the term is takes a form of destruction more as opposed to the purported creation,” said Richard DeVaul.
Richard DeVaul advocates for a change in this trend. He is a progressive thinker who serves as the founding partner and consulting CTO for HyperSolve. DeVaul graduated from Media Lab at MIT, where he developed a computational graphic design program. He also worked on creating a wearable memory support device for his dissertation.
Richard DeVaul, who holds a PhD in MIT Media Lab gives several touching examples to substantiate his claims. In fact, DeVaul challenges experienced and young entrepreneurs to look at the trend on the world of ‘innovation’ before they declare whatever they unleash an innovation.
Richard DeVaul is a renowned entrepreneur and iconic master, who stated in a recent media briefing, that in the world of graphic design and computation said, “In 1975, Kodak produced the first ever self-contained digital camera. Back then, the company thought it was the only one that would last forever thanks to the product it had made.
Years later, the same company that received several praises from people across the world following their creation that stood out was declared bankrupt. When filing for its bankruptcy, Kodak cited that it was hard to compete in the market following a stiff competition from other industry players. If Kodak’s innovation was indeed creation as many of you think, then the company would be competing as we speak thus defending the innovation it helped in its creation.”
Richard DeVaul is not the first one to argue that the term innovation has been misused. A few other experienced entrepreneurs who have faced stiff competitions, forcing them to either quit the race or try other things have also joined Richard DeVaul in support of his argument.
