Teach to One offers students and teachers personalized learning programs. Some people may think this program is just students sitting on a computer all day and the teacher having to do nothing, but that is absolutely not the case. Yes, Teach to One does have daily skills assessments and the results of these assessments are what tells the student what he/she will be seeing the following day, but the teacher in the classroom is still active also. Teach to One incorporates a daily scheduling algorithm that the teachers would not be able to use if it weren’t for current technology. Teachers revealed there would be no way they could do such scheduling if it weren’t for the computers because they simply do not have the time to manually create a specific schedule for each individual student.
The Teach to One program does offer different modalities that the students have to do on their computers but also integrates teacher-led lessons and group lessons. Students will have to collaborate with their peers, with the same knowledge base, on some assignments in order to complete them. Some lessons will be taught by the teacher and then students will follow-up with an assessment on their computer. No matter what method of teaching that is being used, the teacher is ultimately the one responsible for the bond that is built between teacher and student. This bond is what makes the students eager to want to learn and do better in the classroom. The teacher is also responsible for guiding each students learning in the right direction.
Computers will never replace teachers in the classroom. Teachers will always be the heart of the classroom, because of the special relationships and connections teachers have with their students. Teach to One provides learning tools for students and teachers, and properly balances screen time on the computer and face time with the teacher.
